Bread and Butter: FORE The Community

On Thursday 19th June 2025, FORE kicked off their community event series “FORE The Community” in collaboration with Bread and Butter Lounge. “FORE The Community” are biweekly social clubs offering a safe space for creatives of all kinds to connect. Tucked just off the main road in the heart of Shoreditch, Bread and Butter Lounge proved to be the perfect spot for this creative link-up. The evening buzzing with energy, from thought-provoking panel discussions to dancing late into the night.

Bread and Butter Lounge feels like a three-storey home built for creative minds. Upon arrival, friendly security welcomed guests into the ground floor, which set the stage for the evening’s panel talk. Five creatives from across events, fashion, art, and editorial shared their journeys and what fuels their passions, followed by an open Q&A session.

This floor also featured a pop-up from Sanxtuary Magazine, offering issues for sale alongside their signature everyday tote bags. Founded by Natalie, Sanxtuary was created as a space where people of colour and queer communities can coexist and thrive in fashion. The atmosphere was elevated by compelling, storytelling art from London-based Angolan-South African artist Si Xiazi, and a curated selection of clothing from Bread and Butter’s collection, originally born from founder Ben’s Depop shop.

As you walk up the stairs to the first floor, you’re met with the pulse of music and movement on the dance floor. The vibe had the warmth of a true house party: Nintendo games playing in one corner, people lounging on sofas with plates of food from upstairs, and the bar flowing with drinks all night long.

The FORE community wall offered guests a chance to snap a photo, mark the moment, and introduce themselves through a custom profile card. It listed social handles, interests, and areas of expertise, an ideal way to connect with like-minded creatives. For instance, I’m an art enthusiast and without saying a word, I connected with @Acchibz, a multidisciplinary artist who blends spray paint and acrylic markers to create an incredible fusion of smooth textures in his work.

The top floor felt like a communal living room-meets-kitchen, filled with food, music, games, and great vibes. Mama Ky’s Caribbean Fusion catered throughout the night with flavour-packed dishes like chicken wings, lamb chops, and macaroni and cheese. The soul sauce was unforgettable - it’s aroma filled the space and had everyone raving about how good the food was.

Board games for all levels, from Connect 4 to chess, were spread across tables, and one standout detail was a repurposed FORE T-shirt turned into a chessboard, designed by Jordan (FORE’s founder). There was plenty of space to eat, relax, and chat with friends.

Also on the top floor is Matter of Time Studio, a music studio born from a conversation at the very first Bread and Butter launch party. The studio now opens its doors every Wednesday for free events, including open decks for DJs and other community sessions.

The panel talk, hosted by Cassianne, was packed with wisdom and practical advice. The speakers included:

  • Ben, founder of Bread and Butter Lounge
  • Si Xiazi, artist
  • Jordan, founder of FORE (fashion + events)
  • Natalie, founder of Sanxtuary Magazine
  • Peter, founder of Sonder Haus, which curates events for creatives

Each panellist brought a unique perspective on entrepreneurship, but a common theme was the power of showing up and staying open to connection.

  • Ben reminded us that you don’t need a rigid five-year plan, positive energy and openness to opportunities can take you far.
  • Si Xiazi encouraged everyone to “be your own friend”, to support your own journey with kindness.
  • Natalie spoke on authenticity and the importance of creating the spaces you want to see. It’s not always easy, but it’s meaningful.
  • Jordan talked about staying true to your vision by aligning your actions with your mission.
  • Peter shared his theory of creative growth: that it comes through a balance of isolation and socialising, understanding yourself, then learning from conversations and feedback.

If you’re looking for a creative community to network, collaborate, and grow with, a FORE community event at Bread and Butter Lounge is exactly where you need to be. It’s more than an event - it’s a space for empowerment. And over the coming weeks, even more creatives, from musicians to visual artists, will step in to showcase their talents and add their voice to the growing community.
